Just thought i'd share!

This morning i went to a vaulting lesson and by the time it came for Valero's respect lesson i was wiped out!!!(It was my first time back to vaulting in 2 months due to a leg injury)My teacher told me Valero does not respect my space which i knew but who can resist this cute lil face???? :D
Picture
He did great when it was all done and he was respecting my space very nicely!!Not to mention it was his first time away from home!He was calm as a cucumber!I told my mom though that after all this of me pushing him away he is gonna think i don't like him! :( But she told me ,"No he will respect you!"

My buby accomplished a lot this week!!He is sidepassing off the rail, becoming more used to machines of every kind, and is ponying REAL well!!!Oh and not to mention i put the bit in his mouth for the first time and he had no problem with it!

Day 36
When i went out today my mom and I decided to play with ponying...it went amazing till the end when Kahlua got sick of Lero, bit him,and TOOK off...I was not expecting this because i was sitting sidesaddle and i fell off Kahlua!Luckily i landed on my butt!Plus i was wearing a helmet!Anyways Kahlua could tell i was mad when i walked up to her and had as our friend Karen says "We had a come to Jesus moment!"haha. As punishment for biting Lero and taking off i cooled Lero and Luie off together.I am going back out later when it is cooler! Its 96 degrees outside right now!!!

We started out the day today literally playing with the clippers! He was trying to eat them!!!haha

After this i lunged him over some polls to get him to pickup his feet better. Then we played with sidepassing! He is getting better and is actually doing it off the fence, but not together(his hind end with his front end)but at least he is off the fence!
Picture
My mom and i decided today to pony valero with Kahlua! And there was no kicking! But before i got on we found this
Picture
He did not want me to pony him!
Valero is sooo terrified of my girls!!!He does not like walking by them and if they walk up behind him he runs away!haha! The rest is just Lero and Luie working on ponying! He did great, there wasn't even that much pulling!!

He let me put a lot of my weight on him!!! This is the closest Lua and Lero have ever been without Lua biting him!

Sorry i haven't posted in a while! It has rained like crazy and is now just drying up!Anyways my mom and i took Lero and Cord for a walk through the neighborhood and Lero was very calm!!!

'I think i will jump it!!'

When we got back i worked with Valero on turning on his haunches...i got very frustrated and my mom saw this and told me to try to take a break.I did and came back and he did great!Valero just doesn't get the concept of space sometimes!Oh well i worked that outta him!!haha! We also put Luie in with the herd...After one charge from kahlua because Lero was trying to share food with her, she backed off!YAY!Today was very successful! Now going oout to put Lero back in pasture because he is done eatting his grain.

Lero off eatting his hay by his self! :( oh well theyat least are together!!

Valero had most of the day off today due to my late start in the morning and lunch with dad.So when i got the time to play with him i took full advantage of it!I got Lua out, and saddled her up while my mom played with Lero.We decided since Kahlua and Valero's meeting didn't go so well that i would ride Kahlua around Valero while he was lunging with my mom.It went well!I taught kahlua she could only rest when i let her stand by Valero. After this i put the saddle on Valero and used our "dummy legs"(Idea courtesy of Karen)He had a bucking bronco moment(for about 10 seconds)once i got him trotting...but after that he was a gem!!!!Poor Valero is such an outcast with the new herd!!(I put Val in with Lero and Cord.It went very well)They both are grazing together and Lero is far away grazing by his self. :(  And at feeding time Lero decided to go up and try to share hay with Cord and Val but Valentine wouldn't have any of that she shooed him away! But it was not a very violent shoo like Kahlua. So now Lua is by herself in the paddock while the other three are in the pasture.I hope this will help her not be mean to him!

A good meeting!

Well today was really laid back.Especially Valero!!(which is good!)I put the saddle on him and he was falling asleep!Even when the girth hit his leg,he didn't flinch!!The next thing we played with was standing(in my words but in other terms ground tying).I could see in his eyes how badly he wanted to follow me,but he stood there no matter how much he wanted to move!I worked with him on his sidepassing and let me tell you...he does not like sidepassing!!He'd rather go forward or backwards!(I am not sure if i'd shared that yet)Oh and i do believe when the time comes Lero will have no trouble in taking a bit...he already opens his mouth when i say "bit" and put my finger in the roof of his mouth! My buby is such a sweetheart and so socialable!!!

This is a big mumbo-jumbo of day 23 and 24! Day 23:  I had to work for Venture crew from 10 to 3 and then Lero and I worked on EVERYTHING!(everything aside from trailer loading because it wasn't backed up to the trailer)we worked on picking up his feet(I think he just sees me as an annoyance now sometimes),lunging, steping in wierd places, sidepassing, throwing stuff on him(Ball, hula hoop, tarp)and my mom and myself played soccer with Valero and Cordero! It was great!I think we won by far!
Day 24: Valero and I decided to work on some new stuff today!!! I tied him for a while,we explored down by the house, and I threw the western saddle on him for the first time!(we also loaded in the trailer without hesitation!)Valero stood still and didn't freak out. But when i started lunging him he kept trying to stop at the gate!(i do not want a gate sour horse!!!)So i rkept lunging him until he passed by without hesitation! He was REAL sweaty! So as a reward i sprayed him off and put him away!Overall it was a great day!
